SOUL BUSINESS
Are you trying to find a way to implement more structure and consistency into your business?
When I feel into my relationship with my business and how I’m able to consistently show up for it and remain disciplined in following through on the things I know are going to move my business forward, I realise that the pivotal moment in my journey was transitioning away from trying to force myself to be more consistent and disciplined, and actually come back to a place of devotion.
When I am in the energy of devotion and stepping into the fact that I’m really devoted to my mission, I’m devoted to my clients and I’m devoted to the work that I am here to do. I’m devoted to the vision I hold for my life, to leaving a legacy and creating generational wealth for my family and I desire to support other women to do the same. When I look at those things, that devotion moves me.
So rather than constantly forcing myself to be more disciplined, to be more consistent, and to show up, I’m actually being moved by something greater than that.
That is what is propelling me to get up each day.
I’m excited by my business, I’m excited to serve my community and excited to do my work in the world. When I look further into that energy, this changed for me when I learnt a key lesson early on in my business.
I’ll be really honest, when I first started my business, I lacked organisation, I lacked structure and I was really, really resisting the ability to feel held by having repeatable marketing, processes and systems in place because I had been so burnt out in the corporate world. I built a very successful corporate career in my twenties and I climbed the corporate ladder rapidly. By the age of 23, I was responsible for over nine retail stores and a retail team of up to 100 people. So that was a lot of responsibility. It was a lot to hold, but the way that I operated back then was so deeply rooted in my masculine energy.
I was so driven by my calendar, structure, processes, tools like Excel spreadsheets, KPI’s and all these things that I was actually really disconnected from my feminine. I was disconnected from my relationship with my creativity, from doing the things that really lit me up. And that was flowing on to different areas of my life. It was impacting my relationship. It was impacting my overall wellbeing, my happiness, my joy. There was a lack of spontaneity. So when I transitioned from the corporate world into my own business and stepped into entrepreneurship, I actually really rejected masculine systems and structures.
I swung so deeply into my feminine I just wanted everything to ‘flow’ and I wanted it to be ‘easeful’, and I wanted to just allow my creativity to flow around. And that’s really beautiful, right? It’s a nice place to be operating from that intuitive space, but where the breakdown occurs here is that without the masculine and without strategy, structure and systems in place, you won’t feel held and supported by your business.
It’s kind of like a river that has no banks. It’s just going all over the place and there’s no direction to it. When we can embrace the masculine in our business, that is like having banks to the river, which allows the feminine to flourish and allows that beautiful river to be fluid, to have spontaneity, joy, and creativity along the way, but because we’re directing that energy, we’re moving it towards a particular place, and we’re moving in the right direction.
When I feel into that relationship with my business, it does come back to that devotion. It comes back to me and how I’m able to consistently show up for it, remain disciplined and follow through on the things that I know are going to move it forward.
It comes down to me being deeply devoted to my mission, to my work in the world, to my clients, and to the vision for my life.
And being devoted to leading myself to create that desired reality.
Whether you desire to lead masterminds, coaching containers or desire to lead a team. Everything starts and ends with your leadership. We’re always leading people in sales, in marketing, everything in business is about that.
So for me, it’s that devotion to my vision and to my mission that moves me and when channelled intentionally, that energy has the power to move other people. That feeling of being moved has allowed me to move away from forcing, pushing and hustling to being moved by something greater. And then when I look deeper into that energy of devotion, my devotion to peace, ease and simplicity in my life flows effortlessly into my business. That devotion moves me to set my boundaries in business and with my clients.
My devotion to freedom and flexibility drives me to set up the systems in my business that will allow me to feel held. This is that dance of the masculine and the feminine balance in business.
First of all, I’ve been doing this and playing with both of these energies for a while now. But what I truly believe is that when we centre our life, and we allow our life to ultimately be that anchor point, it’s like what would change if you allowed your life to move your business and move your brand and create it from that place? Rather than creating your business and trying to fit in your life around that.
I’m a mother of two children under five. I value my relationship with my husband, my children, my health, all of these things are really important to me. So it’s imperative for me to look at what my priorities are and how I can set up my business in a way that is going to support me to live in alignment to my values. This is ultimately something that we practise because the balance of the masculine and the feminine is going to be different for you as an individual. It’s going to be different based on your season of life. It’s going to be different based on your human design. There’s so many different things that come into it but for me, I really do believe that when we allow ourselves to practise and feel into our body and ask “What do I desire in order to feel safe, in order to feel seen, and in order to feel held by my business?”
If you’re constantly in a state of overwhelm, or if you don’t know where the next client is coming from, to me, these are signs that it’s time to embrace the masculine and put some strategies in place to allow you to feel held.
If there’s a particular part of your business that you’re avoiding, are you willing to look at it?
An example of this is:
Some of my clients desire to feel at ease, they desire a feeling of peace or they desire spaciousness. So we look and assess how they can work with more ease. We identify where the root cause of their overwhelm is coming from. And if you’re constantly waking up in the morning without a clear plan, you’re having to make all these decisions on the fly, and you’re really flying by the seat of your pants, then of course that’s going to lead to feeling overwhelmed, right?
You’re making so many decisions on a daily basis and you don’t know the direction that you’re heading in, so how can we possibly be an empowered decision maker in our business without an overarching vision?
If there is a particular aspect of your business that you find yourself continuing to avoid, perhaps it’s a marketing strategy, perhaps it’s a sales strategy, perhaps it’s having a calendar structure. I would really encourage you to look at why you are avoiding it and ask yourself “Is this a skill set I need to develop?”
I tend to work with a lot of creatives and what I really want to say to you, if you’re in a modality such as healing or you’re a health practitioner, a mindset coach, brand designer, or photography, etc is you’re not expected to know how to market that. You’re not expected to know how to communicate the value of your work in a specific way that reaches the hearts and souls of your clients until you go out and get support to learn that skill.
I think what happens sometimes with women in these industries, such as healing or energetics, whatever industry that you’re in if it’s not specifically related to business, sometimes our avoidance of the masculine comes down to us not feeling good enough, simply because we lack the skill required to execute. So is there a particular element of your business that you’re avoiding? Why are you avoiding it? Is it that you need to sharpen your skill set? Is it that you need to go out and actually invest in a coaching container? Is it that you need to outsource that task? Is it that you’re ‘shoulding’ yourself in business by telling yourself that you must have a website because “she has a website and she’s successful”, but you don’t actually deeply desire a website.
It’s really about tuning into our body here and getting clear on where this resistance is coming from and then allowing your intuition to lead. AND it’s also knowing that there might be some discomfort along the way.
When I look at my own business journey, one of the things for me was deciding that I wanted to step into the embodiment of a multi six-figure earner prior to that being my reality. I really felt into that version of me, how I would be operating and how my business would be set up. I really held up a mirror and understood why there were some things that needed to change. At that moment, I made a decision to start operating as that version of myself and I wanted my business systems to reflect that. So, I went out and I learnt how to create an onboarding process. I learnt how to set up my business at that level. I invested in a system to support me that allowed me to house all of my memberships and my beautiful offerings and allowed me to have a sales support system in place so that when someone came into my world, they felt beautifully supported. I was really stepping into that version of myself because I understood that by operating at this level, I would be able to really deeply serve all of these beautiful clients in my orbit. I’m designing the experience that I want them to have. It also allows me to stay within my zone of genius and feel held by my business. But in the moment of learning that system or setting up the initial structure, it didn’t always feel great.
A Foundress is willing to learn the skill set and apply herself or outsource that task to someone else in order to stay within her zone of genius.
I have memories of when I first started email automation work where I was dancing in my office. In order to learn email automation, I had to drop the story of “I’m not a tech person”. When I looked at the type of business leader I wanted to become I knew that was no longer serving me. So I dropped that story and I got to work.
Because when you bridge the world of masculine business strategy to drive your business forward to create a process that you feel held and supported by and when you intertwine feminine energetics, that’s what allows you to feel good while you do it.
So I really want to encourage you to lean in and know your magic and know that you’re already doing really, really important work. But if there is something that is causing you constant resistance or frustration in your business, it could be a sign that you need to implement or balance these energies within your business.
Do you always have to be on because you don’t have a booking system?
How would you feel if your soul-aligned clients could stumble upon you and you were held by a marketing strategy?
How would you feel if you had your brand message nailed so that it really landed with your people?
How would you feel if you have that structure in place to take someone from just stumbling upon you to being like: How I work with this woman?
How would you feel if your onboarding system was already set up so they could literally find you, fall in love with you, pay you and all of a sudden you’ve got a new client on your roster?
How would that feel to you?
If you are devoted to that being your new reality and you want to step into that being your desired experience, what’s required from you and what support or skillset do you need to make that happen? This then becomes the way that you operate.
